My son was born with VACTERL Association. The “C” or cardiac anomalie is dextracardia, ASD, 7 absent right pulmonary artery(therefore, no right lung). I would LOVE it have an image to help explain it all to family & friends…and to my son one day. Thank you! April Tatum

    What an amazing website-

My unborn baby girl has been diagnosed with a Univentricular Heart Of left ventricular morphology, with DORV, TGA, large VSD, and minor pulmonary stenosis.

Could you please create a picture of her heart so I can better understand her condition & the doctors too, this is my 4th child & the rest are all heart healthy :) so this has come at huge shock & I am having trouble sourcing information online with type of condition & other parents who have experienced the same as me.

    My email is alysendamo@iinet.net.au

    Many many kind thanks

    • http://www.heartbabyhome.com HeartBabyHome

I added your heart request to the list. I’m not sure what you mean by sourcing information to type of condition.  What are you looking for? Many of the  experiences of heart moms are similar despite varying heart defects.

      • Alysendamo

Thanks so much I really appreciate it xx

I forgot to add- not sure if this makes any sense though or any difference to what I’ve posted above but here we go-/ single AV valve with large VSD, the aorta is anterior to the pulmonary artery & appears to be a sub- pulmonary & pulmonary valve stenosis which is minor…

I am just trying touch base with any mums or parents who have experienced or have a CHD baby as I’m in Australia & having trouble finding other families to share experiences with as I was told by drs every CHD baby is different, & also to find out so we are prepared if this type of CHD is linked to any chromosome defect? The level2 scan showed everything else as being perfect & spot on & no other issues other then the heart.

Sorry for all the questions am very new to all this, again thankyou kindly for your time :)

My daughter Alexandra was born with Heterotaxy Syndrome with functionally common atrium, single right ventricle with double outlet right ventricle, d malposed great arteries, interrupted IVC, and nearly discontinuous pulmonary arteries with pulmonary stenosis. She has what they call a frog heart, she has literally no septum, just one common AV valve.

  • Mavnessa

Awesome site, it really helps to be able to visualize the anatomy of the abnormal heart compared to normal. My baby girl has been diagnosed with dextrocardia, common atrium, moderate VSD, av canal, biventricular hypertrophy, and interrupted IVC. If you could form an illustration for this I would be excited. I dont blog, but would love to put it on my facebook, and print out to show to friends and family, or anyone intrested in my daughters condition.

My son had an aortic to left ventricular tunnel.  The tunnel started in the aorta by the pulmonary artery and went back to the left ventricle.  When blood was pumped from the LV through the aorta, half would go through to the rest of the body, while the other half would regurgitate back through this tunnel into the LV, causing it to be nearly double the normal size as it was having to do extra work.  The aortic valve and LV wall were both thicker than normal due to the extra strain put on them.  His tunnel was repaired by a patch at the entrance in the aorta, so the tunnel is still there.  When his LV squeezes, some blood still goes up into the tunnel but it is not circling through anymore.

Hi, what an informative site! My son, expected to be born on May 15th, 2012, has been diagnosed with Dextrocardia, DORV, VSD and PA stenosis. I’d like to start a blog before he’s born, but also be able to show and explain what’s going on a little better to our family members. This is our first child and my husband and I don’t have a family history of any congenital heart defects in our family, so this has all been such a  learning experience for us. I feel relief to know there are so many other parents going through the same things and we are not alone. Thanks for all the imformation on your site! It is super helpful! IF there are any other parents that have a child with these conditions and can offer some advice and support, I’d love to get in touch. Feel free to email me at ophelia111wsp@yahoo.com. Thanks so much!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy – little boys are so fun :)
Does your son have heterotaxy, too?  My daughter has both heterotaxy and dextrocardia – they often come together.  I’m asking because there’s a great heterotaxy network: http://heterotaxysyndrome.com/ They’re particularly active on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/groups/loganspyker/

I’d also highly recommend this forum for advice and support: http://community.babycenter.com/groups/a5055?scid=ddigest_body

Many children’s hospitals have local support groups, too.

Let me know if you have anything I can help you with, too–questions about heart stuff or mom stuff or even blogging stuff.

Feb 7th-14th is CHD awareness week so it should be a great time for you connect with moms in similar situations on facebook, twitter, pinterest, blogs…and being connected helps.

Thanks for the reply! I haven’t been told that he has heterotaxy, but that might be something I bring up to my pediactric cardiologist when I see her. I appreciate all your advice and look forward to creating some much needed bonds through this site! Looking forward to seeing the image!
        All the best,
        Rosie

Thank you for your wonderful website! Our unborn son was recently diagnosed with DORV, TGA, and VSD. I saw the image of DORV, TGA, VSD, and PS but didn’t find one specific to our son’s CHD…if you could post one that would be great. We don’t have a Caring Bridge or Blog yet but plan to. I will be sure to link to your site so other parents can access your resources.

This is an awesome resource for heart families!  My son was born 18 years ago with TGA with no hole (the drs made one until he had the aertrial switch at 15 days old).  The only resources we had was a drawing the nurses gave us and there was limited information available at the time and no support groups that we knew of.  Glad to see all the resources!  BTW, my son is a healthy young man and was just cleared by his cardiologist other than a small murmur and an enlarged aorta which he says is common for post TGA babies but not a health issue – thank you GOD!

My daughter was born Dec 2002. She has asd, vsd, severe coarctaion of aorta, mitral stenosis, aortic stenosis, bicuspid aortic valve, subaortic stenosis, small left ventricle. Her condition is called Shones Complex, which is rare. Most of it has been repaired but she is going to need an aortic valve replacement in the near future.

My son has Triscuspid Atresia, hypoplastic right ventricle, transpostion of the great arteries, vsd, asd, and inverted ventricles, he is post pa banding and glenn/dks , and awaiting his fontan this march he is 16 months, I did see any info on his main defect of Tricuspid atresia, which caused a domino effect for all his other involved defects.
